LinkedIn relied on a surge in sales of its recruitment products to exceed revenue and net income expectations in the second quarter, boosting shares in the professional social network by 7 per cent in after-hours trading.
However, sales growth slowed as the company adapts its advertising business to mobile devices and smaller self-serve ad accounts.
“We’re shifting focus away from one-off, larger custom deals to this more predictable, scalable model,” said Steve Sordello, LinkedIn’s chief financial officer.
