Local Brain Drain | Rochester seeks to end brain drain

Sarah Skelly, a 2011 graduate of Alfred State College’s technology management program, is looking for a job, preferably in Rochester.

“I hope to stay here. I want to stay here,” Skelly said. “I love the community. I just need a job.”

She was just the type of job seeker organizers hoped to attract Wednesday evening to JOBSapalooza — a career fair in Henrietta aimed at recruiting interns and employees from Rochester’s large pool of upcoming and recent college graduates.

“Our goal is to capture and retain the young talent of the men and women who go to college here,” said Ellen Rosen, vice president of marketing, communications and membership for the Rochester Business Alliance.

RBA co-sponsored the event with the Rochester Area Career Development Association. a group that represents career development professionals from 19 colleges and universities in the region…
