Whether it’s receptionists, clerks, personal assistants or business administrators, every firm needs someone to keep on top of the paperwork.
David Holland of training developer Skills CFA says: “There are more than 3.25 million people in the UK working in business and administration roles with 12 million more in positions that require administration skills.”
And over the next five years 600,000 people will be needed to fill existing roles as employees move on or retire. Getting into the sector is straightforward, whatever your age or background.
David adds: “The best, proven route is as an apprentice or by gaining vocational qualifications.
“This way, aspiring administrators can develop the skills, knowledge and work experience that they need to have a rewarding career.”
Currently there are 3,736 vacancies for business and administration apprentices in England, more than any other type.
David says: “Employers want experience and they want to build loyal and motivated administrative staff. Apprenticeships help them find the bright sparks.”
