A recent survey shows that Shanghai has become the favorite place for China’s college graduates to find a job, overtaking the capital Beijing.
From over 50,000 students at more than 100 colleges who were surveyed by the 21st Century English Paper of the English-language China Daily, 27% said Shanghai is their first choice for a job after graduation.
College students have expressed concern over their job prospects as the country’s economic growth rate slows, however, according to the survey. More students said they prefer an employer who offered competitive basic pay than those who said an employer who could offer good career prospects was more important.
However, college students who are natives of Shanghai say they are less willing to stay in the city after graduation.
