Employment in France’s non-farm sector decreased modestly in the second quarter after staying steady in the March quarter, data released by statistical office Insee showed Wednesday.
The number of employees in the market sector, excluding the farm division, decreased 0.2 percent sequentially to around 15.93 million in the second quarter, after staying broadly unchanged in the previous quarter.
Employment in the manufacturing sector decreased 0.7 percent. Payroll numbers in the construction sector and services were lower by 0.5 percent and 0.1 percent respectively than in the March quarter.
Temporary employment dropped 0.8 percent sequentially in the second quarter, reversing the 2 percent increase seen in the three months ended March.
Compared to the second quarter of 2012, non-farm payroll numbers decreased 0.9 percent in the June quarter, data showed.
