The Chinese Career Women Survey Report recently released by Career International-a leading one-stop recruitment solution provider in Asia, shows that 38.9 percent of working women surveyed are unhappy about their last pay rise and 59.9 percent intend to change jobs.
Career International conducted a questionnaire survey on 1,700 people in February 2013, with women, mostly between 23 and 43 years of age, accounting for 45.5 percent of those polled.
A total of 44 percent of women surveyed had expected at least a 20 percent increase for their last pay rise, but only 7.1 percent had their expectations fulfilled.
This made 27.4 percent of women discontented and 11.5 percent very dissatisfied. Most said they would seek ‘new opportunities’. ‘Working harder’ was the next most popular option, before ‘confronting the boss’. Men listed their options in a similar order, but a higher proportion of women than men chose to stay silent.
Career International Business Director An Ran said that this could be because women are more cautious when it comes to workplace relationships and are more wary of bringing up sensitive topics with the boss.
