Sixty per cent of the cleaning staff at Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Borden will lose their jobs Dec. 31, the Public Service Alliance of Canada says.
Wednesday morning, PSAC will host a news conference to discuss the cut, which will impact 120 people who work for contractor Koprash Inc.
“This news is devastating. Yet, these workers and their families aren’t the only ones affected,” said PSAC Ontario regional executive vice-president Sharon DeSousa.
“There are hundreds of small and medium-sized businesses that will be affected by the loss of spending power through these layoffs.”
Although the employees earn $12 per hour, their combined salaries total $200,000 per month…
