Kentucky / L’Oreal to add add 211 jobs

L’Oreal will invest $42 million and add 211 jobs over the next two years to expand its Florence facility on New Buffington Road.

Gov. Steve Beshear and the judge-executives of Boone, Kenton and Campbell counties broke ground Thursday morning on the expansion at L’Oreal in Northern Kentucky that will double the workforce at the plant and more than triple the production capacity of the shampoo and styling products, which includes Garnier Fructis, L’Oreal Paris and Soft Sheen-Carson shampoo.

“Over 80 percent of the new jobs from last year came from existing industries, companies that are already here that are doing well and growing,” said Boone County Judge-executive Gary Moore. “Often it is the new company that moves in from somewhere else that gets the big headline, and we concentrate a lot in working with our companies, our existing industries.”

This past summer, Beshear had met with L’Oreal management in Paris during an economic development trip. He said their investment in the Florence facility shows their confidence in Kentucky…
