Latest figures show more and more New Zealanders are out of work, with unemployment the highest in 13 years.
Experts are calling it “shocking” while unions say it’s a “national crisis”.
And the unemployment rate of 7.3% even took the Prime Minister by surprise although he has questioned if his own statisticians have got it right.
“I’m just saying it’s very much at odds with everything else that we see,” John Key said.
And the figures will soon be boosted after Dynamic Solutions of Christchurch today announced it will shed 40-60 jobs as it winds down its contract manufacturing business.
“A few people were pretty stunned and really didn’t know how to take it, just before Christmas,” EPMU organiser Pete Connelly said…
