Eastman Kodak Co. retirees are likely to soon become part of a big and growing club they have no interest in joining.
A federal bankruptcy court judge in Manhattan on Monday is to hear arguments about Kodak’s plan to eliminate an array of post-retirement benefits. It’s a hearing that was put off one week because of Hurricane Sandy’s damage to New York City.
If the idea passes muster, 56,000 Kodak retirees and their dependents and survivors will join counterparts at companies such as 3M, General Motors and Honeywell International in seeing their former employer reduce or eliminate benefits.
But the move also could put Kodak a lot closer to returning to profitability…
