The new visa policy in Australia allows foreign graduates to apply for residency in the country and DAP Secretary-General Lim Guan argued that it could lead to widespread brain drain, deficits and an exodus of young people from the country.
The new visa rules to be put in place next year by Australia will grant foreign students in Australia the ability to obtain a work visa for between two and four years upon graduating from an Australian university.
Guan said the new rule potentially will allow all 220,000 foreign university students, including some 20,000 to 30,000 Malaysians, in Australia to work in any job once they graduate.
He added that the new Aussie policy will “trigger an exodus” of Malaysian talents as they will want to stay on to work in Australia to enjoy bigger salaries, greater freedom and brighter prospects…
