We’ve said our goodbyes to Freedom 55 and by the looks of things, it seems we’ll be kicking Freedom 65 to the curb. According to a recent survey done by Sun Life Financial, their annual Unretirement Index poll indicates that approximately three in 10 Canadians are planning to work until 66 or older.
Does this mean a goodbye to Freedom 65 and a hello to Freedom 75?
As Canadians live longer and are faced with tough economic choices, Sun Life Financial found that nearly five in 10 say they plan on working part-time even after retirement age hits.
According to a financial advisory website, Financial Edge many retirees are simply staying at jobs they’ve held for years but with an element of flexibility – they’re working fewer hours a week or on a reduced workload, while others work part time at local businesses. This option gives them the freedom of work and income, while gaining extra time for family, travels and relaxation.
Below is a list of post-age 65 jobs from Financial Edge by Investopedia that some seniors are taking on:
- Consultant
- Caterer
- Floral Assistant
- Store Greeter
- Tour Guides
- Retail Work
- Volunteer Work.
