Wipro Technologies Ltd. is busting into Brantford, taking over Bell Canada’s intentions to hire hundreds of people and house them at the city-owned Market Square Mall.
Wipro is not wasting any time and intends to start advertising for the first 350 full-time jobs in local media Thursday, with a job fair scheduled for its new 1 Market Sq. Canadian headquarters Feb. 28 and 29. The hope is to expand and directly employ 500 or more people within 24 to 36 months.
“These are 300 people we will be hiring very aggressively,” Wipro Canada vice-president and country head Chris Lord told council Monday night. “We have plans to start advertising as soon as Thursday. This will create sustainable employment.”
