Electrolux will expand its North American headquarters in Charlotte, NC., and expects to add 810 jobs in the state in the coming years.
It will be the second expansion at the location in three years.
The appliance maker will invest $85 million in a 20-year lease agreement, part of the development of a second building adjacent to its existing headquarters building. The company expects to get LEED certification for the six-floor, 375,000-square-foot building, which will also have solar panels, a roof garden, and a courtyard.
Electrolux expects to add 810 new jobs in North Carolina by 2017. The new jobs will be added in research and development, marketing, design, engineering, supply chain, finance, IT, and executive management positions.
The North Carolina Economic Investment Committee voted to award a Job Development Investment Grant (JDIG) to Electrolux in support of the project. Receipt of the award is based on proof of job creation and other performance requirements.
Electrolux currently has about 1,500 employees in North Carolina at three locations.
