The Ministry of Education is looking to boost the capacity of teachers at vocational schools in order to allow the yielding of quality vocational students to feed the labor market.
According to Deputy Education Minister Pongthep Thepkanchana, the number of vocational students needs to be increased by 50% from the present due to the overwhelming demand for these graduates currently. He said there will definitely be problems in the next 4-5 years if this demand is not met, by the churning out of more personnel.
However, the minister asserted that continual development of teachers in the vocational curriculum is also sorely needed. Every teacher must be competent and possess experience in working for quality employers. He added that the government needs to create a well-structured curriculum for the making of vocational school educators.
