Twinkies are coming back from the dead, and the Indianapolis Hostess plant on Shadeland Avenue is expected to be fired up again. Additionally, the Columbus plant may be used as a distribution center.
“Well they need to be out here [because] no one can take their place,” said former employee Kevin Townsend. “That’s for sure.”
The new owners of Hostess said it will hire at least 1,500 people, but they will be non-union employees.
Townsend worked as a driver for hostess for about 30 years. Even though the Twinkie is coming back, he doesn’t think his job will come back.
“Oh, no,” Townsend said. “No, they have no intentions of hiring us I guarantee that.”
