Estonian Air announced it will lay off nearly half of its personnel.
The company said in a press release that 146 of its 318 employees will be let go. That includes 88 onboard crew members, including pilots, and others from support and administrative staff.
Due to the need to adjust operations in accordance to the reduced flight capacity.
“Noticeable cutbacks in the flight volumes unfortunately leads to operating with smaller number of employees,“ said CEO Jan Palmér. “The structure of the company will be based on operating five aircraft and serving 9-10 core destinations.”…
Pilots’ Association Upset over Layoffs
The Estonian Airline Pilots Association (ELA) has criticized Estonian Air’s decision to announce layoffs without first consulting employees’ representatives and expressed dismay over what it said was an abrupt shift in attitudes from management.
