Sweden – Unemployment rate increases of 0.6 percentage points at 7.2 percent

In August 2012 the number of employed persons aged 15-74 years amounted to 4 738 000. The number of unemployed persons amounted to 366 000, corresponding to an unemployment rate of 7.2 percent, an increase of 0.6 percentage points. On average the number of hours worked was 125.1 million per week. Seasonally adjusted data shows that the number of employed persons continues to increase. It also shows a slight increase in the number of unemployed men.

In August 2012 the number of employed persons aged 15-74 amounted to 4 738 000. The employment rate was 66.6 percent. The number of persons at work were 3 360 000, a decrease of 67 000 compared to the same month last year. Seasonally adjusted the number of employed persons amounted to 4 671 000 which corresponds to an employment rate of 65.6 percent for the population aged 15-74.

The number of unemployed persons aged 15-74 amounted to 366 000 in August 2012, corresponding to an unemployment rate of 7.2 percent, which is an increase of 0.6 percentage points. According to seasonally adjusted data the number of unemployed persons amounted to 396 000, resulting in an unemployment rate of 7.8 percent.
