Willow Valley Inn & Suites in Lancaster County will lay off 175 people in November when the hotel closes to be demolished as part of the ongoing redevelopment there, according to a letter filed with the state Department of Labor and Industry.
The West Lampeter Township hotel is operated by Willow Valley Associates Inc., which has been redeveloping and expanding a number of its properties in the county.
“Plans for the West Lampeter site are in the formative stages, with some exciting concepts for the area. The company is looking to improve the overall health of the community by redeveloping the site for 2013 and the next decade,” Willow Valley President and Chief Operating Officer Diane Poillon wrote in the letter to the state.
The hotel employs 81 full-time, 58 part-time and 36 seasonal staff, according to the letter. The layoffs will begin Nov. 12…
