But, it’s not just cleaners.
All non-clinical staff at the new Fiona Stanley Hospital, including sterilisation technicians, orderlies, patient care assistants, administration and IT staff, will be privately employed by management company Serco.
The Health Services Union says the changes extend even further than that.
The union’s Dan Hill says professional staff, such as physiotherapists and speech pathologists, will remain employed by the government but will be managed and recruited by Serco.
“While we are confident clinical staff will have a job at Fiona Stanley, physio assistants, admin and clerical staff in the physio department are a different story,” he said…
