There have been tons of speculation within the gaming industry today on whether or not one of the pioneers of cloud gaming, OnLive, is shutting down. A writer from Mashable claims they were contacted by a former OnLive employee who says that he and many others have recently been let go by the company and that the company had filed for bankruptcy and was to shutdown, the CEO of InXile Entertainment Brian Fargo also tweeted about the incident about how OnLive was shutting its doors 30 minutes before the article went up. The email sent to Brian Fargo is as follows.
I wanted to send a note that by the end of the day today, OnLive as an entity will no longer exist. Unfortunately, my job and everyone else’s was included. A new company will be formed and the management of the company will be in contact with you about the current initiatives in place, including the titles that will remain on the service.It has been an absolute pleasure working with you and I’m sure our path with cross again…
